Are you an IT Administrator?

The following information should be reviewed prior to deployment of the 2007 Calendar Patch:

  • Please review the knowledge base articles KB13560 and KB12188, which contain important information about issues that may be encountered while deploying the 2007 Calendar Patch to your users.
  • USB loading of the 2007 Calendar Patch requires the installation of an ActiveX control. Users will be prompted to install this active control when they connect to http://www.blackberry.com/CalendarPatch/patch/desktop/calendar_update_loader.shtml. If you prefer to deploy this control to the workstations of your BlackBerry users before they connect to this page to apply the 2007 Calendar Patch via USB, an MSI version of the Active X control is available for download.
  • The 2007 Calendar Patch Query Tool is intended for IT Administrators who would like to analyze their BlackBerry® Enterprise Server users to see statistics related to the 2007 Calendar Patch upgrade process. The output of this tool will list your BlackBerry users and provide you with information about which users do not need the patch and which users do need it, including the current status of its application.
  • A reset may be required after the patch is applied to an affected BlackBerry smartphone. This reset can take up to 5 minutes.

If you would like to wirelessly install the 2007 Calendar Patch for your BlackBerry smartphone users:

An administrator has two options for wirelessly updating affected BlackBerry smartphones:

  1. Host the files necessary to begin the 2007 Calendar Patch installation (the Calendar Patch Manager) on an internal web server. Users would then be directed to visit the internal web server link from their BlackBerry smartphones to download the Calendar Patch Manager. This download will begin the process of installing the 2007 Calendar Patch. This method is referred to as ‘pulling’, since users are required to visit a page and ‘pull’ down the files that they need to apply the 2007 Calendar Patch.
  2. If the BlackBerry Enterprise Server being used is version 4.0 or later, the Calendar Patch Manager can be delivered wirelessly to affected BlackBerry users, without any user interaction. This method is referred to as ‘pushing’, since users are not required to perform any steps to obtain the files needed to apply the 2007 Calendar Patch; the files are queued on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and sent wirelessly to affected users.

The files necessary to ‘pull’ or ‘push’ the 2007 Calendar Patch wirelessly can be downloaded here. Once these files have been downloaded, please refer to the information below for details regarding how to facilitate a wireless push of the 2007 Calendar Patch to your BlackBerry smartphone users:
