Advanced Searching
Once you learn the basics, you may want to use Advanced Search, which has additional options that allow for greater control over how you would like to search. You can access this page by clicking on the Advanced Search link on top of the search bar.
Have a Question?
A Natural Language Query comprises a question or a statement when you want to find an item containing some, or all of the meaningful words in your query.
When you submit a natural language query in the Enter a question or text: text box, the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center is designed to search for items that contain some or all of the first five non-stop words (non-stop words add no semantic value to a sentence, such as a, and, and the).
For example, if your natural language query is Where can I find more about BlackBerry Desktop Manager?, the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center returns a list of items that contain the following words: BlackBerry, Desktop, and Manager.
Narrow Your Search
You can also narrow your search with these options:
- Search Within - Searches in one of the following ways for the text entered in the search bar:
- Whole Document: searches for the text throughout the entire document
- Document ID: searches for a document that matches with the ID entered in the search bar
- Title Only: searches for the text within the document title only
- Product - limits the search to show only results relating to the selected product(s)
- Document Types - limits the search to show only results relating to the documents of the selected type(s)
- Author - limits the search to show only results created by the specific author (*note: available internally only*)
- Published - limits the search to show only results published within a time range
- Publication Status - limits the search published and/or draft documents
- Show Focus Your Results area? - shows or hides the area where you can narrow your search further based on different topical areas
Narrowing your search will help focus your search to pertinent information in the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center.
