Searching
Want to learn how to improve your search results? Browse through these tips to find out how you can form a search term(s) that returns meaningful results.
Searching in the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center may seem tricky at first, but the search feature can become a valuable tool in finding support information quickly, once you learn how to use it.
The Basics: Search using Keywords
Begin by typing two or more search words or a phrase in the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center search bar and click the Go button or press the ENTER key to return results.
Quick Tips:
- Be specific and descriptive.
- Avoid limiting your search to one word, or to use too many words because you may see too many or too few results.
- Search results generally contain all of your search terms, so feel free to omit the AND operator between terms
- Search words (with the exception of boolean operators) are not case sensitive, but be careful of character symbols and special operators (AND, OR) as these words may generate varying search results.
- Narrow your search as much as possible using the drop down menu options.
Example search terms:
- "desktop email program unable to submit message"
- unable to complete enterprise activation
- "unable to send" OR "unlisted message"
- "BlackBerry Internet Service" login
Refine Your Search
If basic keyword searching gives you too many or too few results, try your search again using one or more of the following techniques:
- Use Operators
- Exact Phrase Search
- Search in a Specific Place
- Mind your Spelling
- Include Versions to Knowledge Base Article Searches
- Refine Search Results
Tip: All the relevant documents may not have been included in the search if you see 300 results, which is the maximum number returned. Try to narrow your search string so that all relevant documents can be included in the search.
Advanced Search
Once you learn the basics, you may want to use the Advanced Search, which has additional options that allow for greater control over how you would like to search. You can access it by clicking on the Advanced Search link on top of the search bar.
