If you want to use a third-party application that was not designed for the SurePress™ touch screen on the BlackBerry Storm Series, you can turn on Compatibility Mode.
Compatibility Mode is designed to do the following:
- Restrict the BlackBerry smartphone to portrait view while you are using the third-party application
- Emulate trackball navigation (for example, if you touch the BlackBerry smartphone screen and slide your finger, this is similar to moving a trackball cursor, or if you click the screen, this is similar to clicking a trackball)
If the third-party application requires a keyboard, the SureType® technology keyboard appears.
To turn on Compatibility Mode for a specific application, complete the following steps:
BlackBerry Device Software 4.7:
- Navigate to the Applications list by clicking Options > Advanced Options > Applications.
- Locate and select the third-party application.
- Display the menu and click Enable Compatibility Mode.
BlackBerry Device Software 5.0:
- Navigate to the Applications list by clicking Options > Applications.
- Locate and select the third-party application.
- Display the menu and click Enable Compatibility Mode.
- BlackBerry® Storm™ 9500 smartphone
- BlackBerry® Storm™ 9530 smartphone
- BlackBerry® Storm2™ 9550 smartphone
- Third-party applications
