Method Detail

register

public static void register(Transcoder transcoder)
                     throws TranscoderRegistrationException

Registers a Transcoder. Once a transcoder has been registered, any messages sent from the device will be passed into its encode(...) method for encoding. Similarly, any messages sent to the device will be passed into its decode(...) method for decoding. A transcoder must re-register on device reset.

The registration will fail if

  1. the transcoder to register is null, or
  2. another transcoder is already registered, or
  3. the calling application does not have permission to register a transcoder. The permission to register a transcoder is granted by the BES administrator.

Parameters:
transcoder - the transcoder to register
Throws:
IllegalArgumentException - if transcoder is null.
TranscoderRegistrationException - if registration cannot be completed
