APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT TIPS & TRICKS

Did you know? The BlackBerry Application Development Support team provides support and empowers BlackBerry Developer to create the best applications possible. Consult the experts of this team for all your getting started questions, how to's, programming tips and to report possible bugs. To take advantage of the team's skills and knowledge, please visit the Incident Based Support web pages.

Automate code signing by using the command line to run the signature tool. See the Appendix of the BlackBerry Signature Tool Developer Guide

In 4.3.0 and above, leverage System.getProperty() to access common file paths. For example, to access the video directory on the microSD card, instead of specifying the whole path like "file:///SDCard/BlackBerry/videos/", you can instead call System.getProperty("fileconn.dir.memorycard.videos");. See the javadoc for the System class for a listing of all acceptable keys that can be passed into System.getProperty().
