THE BLACKBERRY GURU

If you have questions, we have answers. Write to the BlackBerry Guru with your requests.

Q: I have developed an application that extends UIApplication but which I want to run in the background. Is it possible for this same app to display some UI component to the screen even while it is set to auto-run on startup?

A: You can create an alternate entry point for your application. Please see the following knowledge base article: How To: Set up an alternate entry point for my application

Q: I'm developing application for BlackBerry with JDE 4.3.0 and I'm working on the BlackBerry® PearlTM 8100 smartphone. When trying to debug the application on an actual BlackBerry Pearl smartphone there is an error "File not found: net_rim_app_manager.debug"

A: This means that the debug files for your BlackBerry handheld software are not available to the BlackBerry JDE. They are installed with the BlackBerry simulators, so if you install a BlackBerry simulator that matches your handheld software version (ie: 4.2.0.95) you should no longer receive that message and debug functions should become available to you.
