BlackBerry BlackBerry Widgets
Recently the BlackBerry® Web Platform took a huge leap forward with the introduction of the BlackBerry Widget SDK. This is the latest in a series of tools Research In Motion (RIM) has released for web developers over the past few months, and may prove to be the most powerful of the bunch. A bridge has now been built to allow web developers to create stand alone applications that can be downloaded and run offline on the device.

  BlackBerry Widgets  
While developing the content for your BlackBerry® Widget, you can modify your configuration file so that web resources are referenced from an external location such as a network domain or the SD Card rather that an embedded location. Doing this will allow to make changes to this content without having to re-build and re-deploy your Widget application which would otherwise be embedded into the COD file.

After you have finished testing your BlackBerry Widget in the BlackBerry smartphone simulator, there is one additional step you'll need to perform before you can run the BlackBerry Widget on a real BlackBerry smartphone. The widget must be signed using code signing keys obtained from RIM.
