1 See DB-00461 for
more information on cellsite, assisted, and autonomous GPS fixes.
2 GPS-enabled BlackBerry smartphones
can retrieve GPS data from Bluetooth® GPS receivers using either
the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP) application programming interfaces
(API) or Location APIs (Java® Specification Request (JSR)-179).
3 The Bluetooth SPP can be accessed
using the Bluetooth API (net.rim.device.api.bluetooth), which is
included with BlackBerry® Java® Development Environment (BlackBerry
JDE) 4.0 and later.
4 BlackBerry® 8700 Series smartphones
with BlackBerry® Device Software 4.2.1 support JSR 179. For more
information on how to pair a Bluetooth GPS receiver with a BlackBerry smartphone
using JSR-179, see DB-00538.
5 The PDE (Position Determining
Entity) is required, please refer to the GPSSettings.setPDEInfo()method.
6 Identifies wireless service providers
using the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network (uses ephemeris
extensions).
7Must be part of the Verizon Developer
Program.
