To send Short Message Service (SMS) text messages
between two BlackBerry Smartphone Simulators that are running on
the same computer, complete the following steps:
- Open the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator,
noting the values specified in the command prompt for /sms-source-port and /sms-destination-port.
These values are listed in the command that is used to start the
BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator. They are typically located in a
batch file.
- Switch the source and destination port and then start
another BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator instance.
- The second BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator will report
port conflicts. Continue using the simulator because the only effect
port conflicts will have is the inability to attach the debugger
or use the BlackBerry® Mobile Data System (BlackBerry MDS) Simulator
with a second simulator.
- Send SMS text messages between the two BlackBerry Smartphone
Simulators using the Messages application or your own custom application.
Note: You cannot run two instances of a BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator
from the same directory. The preceding steps require you to install
two BlackBerry Smartphone Simulators or that you create a copy of
an existing BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator directory.
Note: The BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator might incorrectly mark
the SMS text messages as “read” or “important” when using the configuration
described above.
