AMR Research Acknowledges AvantGo's Leadership In Mobile Space

Leading Industry Research Firm's Paper Cites Facts to Illustrate AvantGo's Momentum; 29 New Global 1000 Customers, Hosted Network for 1500 Businesses, and 3 Million Registered Users

San Mateo, CA - AvantGo, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVGO), the leading provider of mobile infrastructure software and services, was recognized recently in a published paper by industry research firm, AMR Research, as a strong leader in the mobile space. The paper points to impressive new Global 1000 customers, new products and innovation as leading factors in answering the question it poses, "In a confused mobile market where few other vendors gain significant market traction, why does AvantGo gain strength?"

The paper notes: "Few mobile vendors can boast of more than three million registered users that access content and applications via smart devices or of having a hosted network that serves 1,500 businesses wirelessly. Even fewer can claim global customers such as Eli Lily, Pfizer, Unilever and BP."

"AvantGo has been executing on its original strategy set four years ago, to provide real-world mobile solutions to the Global 1000. That means solutions that work today, with today's available infrastructure, not solutions that will be critical to a company five years down the road, but that don't make practical sense now," said Richard Owen, CEO of AvantGo. "The market can go ahead and make all the noise in the world, AvantGo is going to trod ahead, undistracted and on course, and what the industry will see is a leader building on its products and services, and adding name brand customers each quarter."

Author of the paper, Rekha Waheed, analyst at AMR Research, sees the shipment of AvantGo's first packaged application for sales professionals, AvantGo Mobile Sales™, as a positive strategy for today's market conditions. Waheed states, "By reducing mobile SFA costs and increasing deployment speed through a packaged SFA application, AvantGo continues to distinguish itself. While vendors of CRM and wireless products require sizeable upfront costs and integration projects, AvantGo has slowly but surely adapted to, and capitalized on, the needs of the mobile, yet financially constrained market."

AvantGo Mobile Sales began shipping in July, and is a packaged mobile sales force automation application that wirelessly supports all of Research In Motion's BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds™, Microsoft Pocket PC-based and Palm OS-based handheld devices. The AvantGo Mobile Sales application is the first packaged mobile application from AvantGo. The AvantGo Mobile Sales application allows sales professionals to view and update critical sales information from leading customer relationship management (CRM) applications, such as Onyx, Oracle and Siebel Systems with their personal digital assistants and Internet-enabled phones.
