mFormation Partners with Research In Motion to Provide Support for BlackBerry in its Wireless Infrastructure Management Software
Joins BlackBerry ISV Alliance Program; Provides "Over The Air" Control and Management of Wireless Handhelds
Edison, NJ - mFormation Technologies Inc., an emerging provider of Wireless Infrastructure Management software, today announced it has signed a BlackBerry ISV Alliance Agreement with Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM, TSE: RIM) to provide support for BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds™ in mFormation's Wireless Infrastructure Management software.
mFormation today also announced the availability of its Wireless Infrastructure Management solution mFormation ENTERPRISE MANAGER. mFormation ENTERPRISE MANAGER is a Web-based software platform that provides IT departments with complete, "over the air" control over all components of their rapidly growing wireless data systems.
Under the BlackBerry ISV Alliance Program for North America, mFormation is providing mFormation ENTERPRISE MANAGER for BlackBerry. By combining mFormation ENTERPRISE MANAGER with BlackBerry, corporate IT departments can gain insight into the state of BlackBerry handhelds in the field and remotely control them in real time. IT departments can collect usage, performance and configuration information from the handhelds whenever they need it, and generate reports that can be used for planning and support. mFormation ENTERPRISE MANAGER provides this sophisticated level of management anywhere, at any time, as it does not require the handheld to be connected to the company's LAN through its docking cradle.
"Wireless devices like the BlackBerry handheld are becoming extensions of the corporate computing environment and should be viewed as corporate assets that contain critical information and connect users to the corporate network" said Ron Pettengill, mFormation CEO. "Organizations need the same levels of security, control and management over these 'always connected' devices as they have over the rest of the IT infrastructure. mFormation's solution will enable corporate IT to control their wireless computing environment regardless of how large it grows, ensure security, protect data, improve performance and deliver better service to their BlackBerry users."
"RIM is working with mFormation to expand the value of our solution for corporate customers who view BlackBerry as an important component of their overall IT strategy," said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Brand Management at Research In Motion. "mFormation's infrastructure management software, which is designed specifically for wireless environments, will enable IT departments to easily monitor, control and manage BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds in the field."
