Baylor Health Care System Deploys Onset's METAmessage For Wireless™ To Let Users Read and Print Email Attachments

Santa Cruz, CA - Onset Technology today announced that Baylor Health Care System, one of the nation's largest not-for-profit health care providers, has deployed Onset's METAmessage for Wireless™ solution to give several hundred of its administrative and management staff the ability to read and print email attachments, anytime, anywhere. The Dallas-based health care system installed the enterprise version of Onset's METAmessage solution to provide its RIM BlackBerry handheld device users with additional capabilities, including mobile access to business-critical information often contained in email attachments.

Onset's METAmessage solutions let wireless device users read and print email attachments in much the same manner as they would from their desktop. Baylor officials reported that they purchased the METAmessage solution to not only enhance BlackBerry device functionality but also to provide the hospital with a flexible, secure and reliable solution. John Crouch, Personal Communications Manager for Baylor, says that by giving Baylor users anywhere, anytime access to messages and attachments, the METAmessage/BlackBerry solution saves each user an estimated three-and-a-half hours a week.

"The BlackBerrys are a big hit, and the ability to read and print email attachments while away from the office adds significant productivity, whether they are in the building or on the road," said Crouch. "METAmessage gives us that ability, plus added functionality. For example, it can convert more than 25 file types; other solutions we considered convert only six or so. Additionally, because METAMessage is available as an enterprise solution we can administer the product ourselves, giving us more flexibility and more control, especially with security and reliability."

"With this technology, an enterprise can deploy an email attachment solution to give users mobile access to messages and attachments - both inside a large facility and outside of it - while still maintaining control over the system," said Stewart Fox, vice president of worldwide sales for Onset. "The benefits realized from the use of METAmessage for Wireless can be replicated in organizations large and small, across a wide range of industries. Anyone using a handheld device for message access can enjoy greater convenience and productivity by deploying METAmessage."
