Research In Motion, Siemens and Clarica Executives; Intellectual Capital Management Expert to Address LiveLinkUp 2001

Jim Balsillie, chairman and co-CEO of Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM, TSE: RIM); Friedrich Froeschl, Ph.D., president and CEO of Siemens Business Services (NYSE: SI, XETRA: SIE); Hubert Saint-Onge, senior vice president of Clarica (TSE: CLI) and a widely recognized knowledge management expert; and Nick Bontis, Ph.D., director of the Institute for Intellectual Capital Research, will share their perspectives on the growing importance of and return on investment to be gained from collaborative business technologies.

Hubert Saint-Onge, senior vice president, Clarica, Wednesday, November 7 - Hubert Saint-Onge has developed and implemented knowledge management strategies for large corporations for more than 20 years. By helping businesses such as Clarica, the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Shell Canada realize the full potential of their human assets, Saint-Onge is widely recognized as an authority on the management of intellectual capital. He will explore LiveLinkUp's first day theme-"Managing Intellectual Capital Through Virtual Teams"-from his unique hands-on business perspective. Saint-Onge is currently senior vice president, strategic capabilities for Clarica, one of Canada's largest insurance and financial services providers.
Nick Bontis, Ph.D., director, Institute for Intellectual Capital Research, Wednesday, November 7 - Nick Bontis will further explore LiveLinkUp's first-day theme as a leading researcher in the area of intellectual capital management. Dr. Bontis is a world-renowned expert on intellectual capital, organizational learning and knowledge management. He is also an award-winning professor of strategic management at McMaster University in Ontario and associate editor of the Journal of Intellectual Capital.
Jim Balsillie, chairman and co-CEO, RIM, Thursday, November 8 - Representing one of the world's most innovative developers of wireless solutions, Balsillie is ideally suited to elaborate on LiveLinkUp's second-day theme: "Extending the Reach of Your Great Minds." RIM provides solutions for seamless and remote access to time-sensitive information including email, messaging, Internet and intranet-based applications. Last year, Open Text and RIM launched a strategic alliance to integrate Livelink and RIM's BlackBerry™ wireless email solution, equipping mobile Livelink users with more dynamic collaboration capabilities.
Friedrich Froeschl, Ph.D., president and CEO of Siemens Business Services, Friday, November 9 - Froeschl will address LiveLinkUp attendees on a day focused on "Collaborating to Build Successful Application Solutions." Siemens, one of Open Text's largest customers, has adopted a sophisticated collaborative knowledge management strategy designed to make Siemens more efficient and productive by better leveraging the intellectual capital of its 460,000 employees worldwide. Froeschl will discuss Siemens "knowledge sharing" strategy and the role it plays in making Siemens a world leader in electrical engineering and electronics.
