APRIVA Freight Tracker Application Takes AGS Mobile

Scottsdale, AZ - APRIVA, Inc., a wireless solution provider, has outfitted Associated Global Systems with its Freight Tracker solution. APRIVA Freight Tracker is a flexible and robust wireless application for the shipping industry. It is an all-in-one wireless solution that extends an enterprise's existing dispatch system by providing real-time shipping, package tracking and driver communication functionality virtually anywhere in the field.

APRIVA's newest wireless application, Freight Tracker, was developed with the assistance of AGS. The two organizations worked together to define the requirements and design Freight Tracker with delivery companies and the Air Forwarders sector in mind. The solution provides Air Forwarders with a cost-effective and efficient wireless solution that helps eliminate the amount of dispatch paperwork, capture real-time status of every package from point of origin to delivery and accelerate the billing process.

Since the deployment in December, AGS has seen billing cycles decrease, automatic web posting of delivery and pickup status and data virtually immediately available for client viewing, and with further deployment over the next few months, a reduction in communication costs will be realized. APRIVA Freight Tracker couples a Research In Motion (RIM) BlackBerry™ with APRIVA's B500 Barcode Scanner peripheral, and runs on either the Cingular/Mobitex™ or Motient/DataTAC™ networks. The solution allows a dispatcher the flexibility of sending dispatches for delivery or pickup and receiving acceptance/rejection notifications from the drivers, all in real-time. The drivers are able to accept or reject a dispatch based on their capacity or workload, and also allows the drivers to update pickup information, increase the number of packages, add damage reporting and view shipments on the device by pickup address, delivery address or pickup time. This application also provides AGS with the added functionality of Instant Messenger, allowing the dispatcher to communicate directly with the drivers in a two-way chatting session using the RIM device.

APRIVA Freight Tracker runs on APRIVA's Framework, giving managers the ability to view and customize real-time Web-based reporting, device management, device configuration and user roles or actions. Application updates are receivable wirelessly or via the Internet, and security is provided via log-on verification of the user and the device.
