XcelleNet and Research In Motion Team to Offer Wireless Handheld Management to Enterprises Deploying BlackBerry

XcelleNet's management capabilities include asset tracking, instant messaging and added security for IT managers

Atlanta, GA - XcelleNet, Inc., the leading provider of management solutions for distributed enterprises, today announced an alliance with Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSE: RIM), a world leader in the mobile communications market, to jointly market XcelleNet's mobile management solution to enterprises utilizing the BlackBerry™ solution from RIM.

BlackBerry, which has become the corporate standard for wireless email, is a secure, end-to-end solution that includes advanced wireless handhelds, wireless airtime, desktop utilities and enterprise server software. When used with XcelleNet, IT managers will be able to wirelessly track the location of each BlackBerry handheld, determine what software is running on that device, verify implementation of corporate security standards and monitor device conditions, such as current memory and battery capacity.

Administrators can also send alerts to the field that are immediately visible on the BlackBerry screen. This way, critical information is displayed to users without requiring them to open an email first. If the handheld is lost or stolen, the administrator can also "lockdown" the device remotely so information is inaccessible to unauthorized users.

As a result, enterprises can identify users and the current state of each BlackBerry handheld in the field, send targeted emails or alerts to certain groups of users based on captured criteria, and ensure that information contained on lost or stolen handhelds remains secure.

"RIM and its partners have always worked closely with customers to deliver wireless enterprise solutions that meet the needs of IT departments as well as users," said, Mark Guibert, Vice President, Brand Management at Research In Motion. "XcelleNet supplies corporate customers with advanced tools to centrally control and efficiently manage their BlackBerry handhelds in the field."

"We are very pleased to be working closely with a wireless solution pioneer like RIM," said Russ Anderton, Vice President - Business Development of XcelleNet. "BlackBerry is a "must have" device in many mobile-focused companies, and XcelleNet provides IT administrators with a solution that can help them better manage their BlackBerry handhelds and the vital information they contain."
