Wireless Application Provider Astata Ceases Operations; Onset Increases its Leadership Position By Adding Astata's Enterprise Customers to its Already Strong Base
Santa Cruz, CA - Onset Technology today announced that Astata Corporation has chosen Onset from a field of message conversion solutions providers as the best company to provide enterprise offerings to Astata customers. The decision underscores Onset's growing leadership in the message conversion market and gives it access to a large base of blue-chip enterprise customers that recognize the need for anytime, anywhere access to corporate information. Astata, a wireless application provider, ceased operations this past December.
"Astata's selection of Onset to serve its customers is testimony to the qualities that make up our competitive edge and contribute to our leadership in the industry," said Gadi Mazor, president and CEO of Onset. "Those qualities include the superiority of our solutions and service, the strength of our existing partnerships and enterprise customer base, our corporate staying power and our vision for the future of message conversion."
Astata developed, implemented and hosted wireless Internet applications and communications solutions. Its enterprise customers included a number of blue-chip companies in the financial, legal and energy industries, among others.
Onset Builds Momentum with New Customers, Funding
Astata's decision to have Onset serve its customer base follows on the heels of Onset receiving $3.5 million in capital investment from the Challenge Fund, the FLV Fund, Hollinger Digital Inc., the Intel Communications Fund, MAG Ventures and Poalim Electronic Communication. This funding, coupled with the addition of enterprise customers from Astata, allows Onset to further build its already strong base of enterprise customers and partners. Onset's current customers include such Fortune 500 companies as Bechtel, CBS/Viacom, Northrop Grumman, PepsiCo, Pfizer, and Universal Studios, among others.
