Wireless Solutions to offer Flowfinity's Thinflow™ technology in Italy - the first platform to extend .NET applications to BlackBerry®
Wireless Solutions to offer comprehensive enterprise application solutions for BlackBerry in Italy
Milan, Italy - Today, Wireless Solutions and Flowfinity Wireless announced that they have entered into an agreement to introduce to the Italian market Flowfinity's Thinflow technology- the first solution for end-to-end integration of .NET enterprise applications and BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds™. Wireless Solutions will also offer Flowfinity's MobileForms product line of forms data collection products to Italian customers.
With introduction of Thinflow Application Gateway, millions of software developers supporting Microsoft's technology standards can leverage their knowledge, assets and experience to deploy their applications to BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds. As well, enterprises with commitments to Microsoft technology standards can be assured that their existing IT investments can be further leveraged for BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds.
Wireless Solutions offers enterprise customers a total solution including development, integration, deployment support and training for data-driven wireless applications, using industry standard platforms such as .NET and J2EE.
"We believe that the availability of enterprise applications is key to the market penetration of Mobile Office solutions such as the BlackBerry platform. Today, our clients are demanding more and more plug-and-play components to build such applications," said Marco Argenti, Chairman and CEO of Wireless Solutions. "Flowfinity's products offer a very practical and cost-effective answer to such needs, allowing rapid development and seamless, over-the-air deployment of applications."
"We are pleased to expand the reach of our unique enterprise technology to Italy," said Dmitry Mikhailov, President and CEO, Flowfinity Wireless Inc. "Wireless Solutions is a recognized leader in the Italian wireless market and our organizations will work together to deliver exceptional value to the Italian enterprises seeking to increase productivity of their mobile workforce and reduce costs associated with distributed business processes."
Wireless Solutions has partnered with Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) for the introduction of the BlackBerry platform into the Italian market since mid 2001, and is Telecom Italia Mobile's partner in Italy for system integration, technical support and application development and distribution.
Thinflow™ Technology
Flowfinity's patent-pending Thinflow technology provides enterprise application infrastructure for always-connected wireless devices. Today, Thinflow is one of the fastest ways to deliver high-performance enterprise applications to BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds.
Thinflow application infrastructure provides wireless application developers with pre-built services that isolate the developer from the details of wireless implementation and device specifics. With Thinflow, developers focus on implementing the core functionality of the applications, leveraging existing skills, tools, and industry standards.
MobileForms Express
MobileForms is a forms automation product line from Flowfinity based on .NET and Thinflow technologies. MobileForms Express is a plug-and-play product that empowers a workgroup in the field to publish and distribute new forms on-the-fly and have field data immediately relayed back to the home office.
MobileForms Express is the first solution for mobile forms automation to combine on-device form publishing, over-the-air form distribution, and wireless form submission capabilities. The product enables corporations with enterprise deployments of BlackBerry to leverage their existing investment and capitalize on the potential for forms based solutions.
Availability
The Flowfinity Thinflow Application Gateway 3.0 (TAG 3.0) and the Thinflow Client technology for BlackBerry handhelds are available for trial or purchase immediately. For developers, the solution integrates into Visual Studio .NET to enable rapid application development. For enterprise deployments, any .NET enterprise applications behind the firewall can be wirelessly enabled by deploying TAG 3.0 and RIM's BlackBerry Enterprise Server v3.5, thus enabling BlackBerry handhelds to securely access a .NET application.
A fully functional version of MobileForms Express is freely available for up to 10 users, making it ideal for small workgroups and pilot projects. Italian users of Java-based BlackBerry Wireless Handheld can download MobileForms Express immediately from the Flowfinity website, http://flowfinity.com. Product support and training, as well as versions for more than 10 users can be obtained from Wireless Solutions.
