Wireless Solutions and Epoch Integration Bring NeedTEXT Shell for BlackBerry® To Italian Market
Italian service provider will offer NeedTEXT Shell mobile system administration software to Telecom Italia Mobile's enterprise customers
Toronto, CA - Epoch Integration Inc., a provider of enterprise wireless software, today revealed that the company has partnered with Wireless Solutions S.p.A. to distribute its NeedTEXT Shell software to the Italian market. Wireless Solutions, a Bologna-based wireless application service provider, will sell NeedTEXT Shell directly to enterprise customers using the popular BlackBerry® handhelds developed by Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM).
NeedTEXT Shell software operating on the BlackBerry wireless platform provides IT departments with a behind-the-firewall solution that enables the handheld to securely access a command-line interface, allowing IT users to manage their servers, routers, and other network equipment. Administrators can use all of their standard command-line tools such as telnet, SSH and FTP, to detect, diagnose and fix problems from anywhere within wireless network coverage. As a result, IT staff have the ability to significantly reduce system downtime by reacting to problems quickly, even if they are away from the office or a wired terminal.
The partnership with Wireless Solutions officially marks NeedTEXT Shell's expansion into the European enterprise market. As Ramon Tavares, president of Epoch Integration, explained, this is a key development for the product: "NeedTEXT Shell effectively leverages the wireless carrier-agnostic features of BlackBerry Enterprise Server, which allows it to operate on multiple networks and mirror the global adoption of the BlackBerry platform." Enterprise customers in Italy will benefit from local sales and support provided by Wireless Solutions, an established service provider that is strategically partnered with Telecom Italia Mobile for the introduction of BlackBerry to the Italian marketplace. "We are elated to team up with Wireless Solutions," added Tavares, "Their successful history of delivering high-quality wireless solutions is a perfect fit for NeedTEXT Shell."
"We are pleased to partner with Epoch Integration to introduce their mobile administration software into the Italian market," commented Cesare Navarotto, manager, Mobile Office Services of Wireless Solutions. "We have been looking for a simple, yet powerful mobile administration solution for a while now and we feel that with NeedTEXT Shell, we have exactly what our customers need."
Summary of key NeedTEXT Shell features:
- Full command-line access to host systems
- End-to-end Triple DES encryption through BlackBerry Enterprise Server
- Simple and quick installation in Windows, UNIX and Linux environments
- Web-based administration interface for convenient management through any web browser
- Per-user licensing (no limit on the number of servers or network devices that can be managed)
