Onset's METAmessage to Provide BlackBerry Access to Newly Announced iManage Worksite 8 Matter Centric Collaboration System
Mobile Attorneys Will Have Quick and Easy Access to iManage's Document Management and Collaboration Solution using METAmessage for Wireless - Legal Software
LawNet 2003, Boca Raton, FL - Onset Technology, a leading developer of enterprise access software for wireless handheld devices, announced today its commitment to provide mobile access to the iManage WorkSite™ version 8 matter centric collaboration solution for law firms. The support will ensure a seamless upgrade path for the numerous law firms using iManage and METAmessage® solutions with Research In Motion (NSDQ:RIMM; TSX:RIM) BlackBerry® deployments. METAmessage solutions let mobile attorneys access document-management systems, spell-check outgoing messages, and use time-and-billing and CRM applications practically anywhere, anytime.
"iManage WorkSite 8 provides a much more efficient way for attorneys to work with their case matters," said Drew Freeman, Onset's VP of Business Development. "METAmessage brings together this increased efficiency with the productivity advantages of BlackBerry, further empowering mobile attorneys."
iManage WorkSite 8, announced earlier today at LawNet, is the only system to support Matter Centric Collaboration (MCC), a new paradigm for the way information is organized, presented and acted upon by legal professionals. More than simply a portal view into multiple systems, MCC represents a fundamental, user-centric design, which more closely fits how lawyers and assistants want to interact with a document management system.
"iManage WorkSite 8 is a new user-centric model based on the way attorneys really work, and this includes the increasing use of Blackberry," said Steve Pattison, iManage vice president of Business Development. "Onset's ability to provide Blackberry access to matter content within iManage WorkSite is a great benefit for our mobile users."
METAmessage, used by over 150 law firms (40+ in the AmLaw 100) and over 1000 enterprise customers, is a complete, out-of-the-box solution for BlackBerry handheld access to the enterprise. Depending on how the product is licensed, users can interact directly with a range of enterprise data systems including document management/time-and-billing programs, enterprise applications, and internally developed databases. The user simply opens a form on the handheld and either requests information from or adds information to the data source. Users can also get network files to send, read, or print; access the Web, without opening a browser, for driving directions, flight information, Google searches, and more; and, read email attachments and Web pages and print them anywhere, including network printers.
