Saratoga Systems Selects Dejima Direct ™ To Power Wireless Sales Force Automation

Dejima Technology Enables Saratoga's CRM Customers to Save Time and Gain Efficiencies in the Sales Process

San Jose and Campbell, CA - Dejima, Inc., a leading provider of mobile access solutions, and Saratoga Systems Inc., an established, global customer relationship management (CRM) software provider for medium-to-large multinational organizations, today announced a licensing agreement to include Dejima Direct™ in Saratoga Systems' new iAvenue™ Wireless product, available with the upcoming release of iAvenue 6.2. iAvenue Wireless enables Saratoga Systems' customers to interact with important customer and logistical information using wireless devices, such as BlackBerry™ from Research In Motion (RIM), wireless Pocket PC or Palm OS® devices. With Dejima Direct, Saratoga Systems customers will have the ability to access critical information and functionality in the iAvenue product using their own words over the wireless web and email.

iAvenue Wireless, powered by Dejima Direct, empowers sales teams and executives with anytime, anywhere access to core-enterprise information and time-sensitive transactions in the most intuitive way - via their own words and in as little as one step. In iAvenue Wireless, sales reps simply enter their requests for actions or reports in the request box on a wireless web interface or in the subject line of an email on their wireless device. Dejima Direct™ is flexible enough to allow people to type abbreviations or custom phrases. For example, a sales rep for a chemical company may need to know the available-to-promise levels for Borax at the Atlanta depot. To get the information he/she simply asks, "what's the available to promise level for borax in Atlanta," or just "borax atp in atlanta."

Utilizing Dejima's user-centric approach to wireless application design and development, iAvenue Wireless functionality enables customers to increase productivity and responsiveness. iAvenue Wireless customers can more quickly and efficiently:

  • Manage active accounts/deals
  • Check inventory and available to promise
  • Track shipments
  • Verify billing and invoice status
  • Enter orders onsite
  • Track customer support cases
  • Access and update contact information

According to Gartner, tactical adoption of mobile applications will increase significantly in 2003. One of the major drivers of this trend is "greater competitive pressure on enterprises that increasingly rely on providing mobile workers with real-time information from supply chain management, enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management applications," said Bill Clark, research director for Gartner, focused on wireless enterprise solutions.

"Empowering field salespeople with intuitive, direct wireless access to customer history, inventory, order status, and other important data and transactions at the point of need enables them to focus on the sales process and close more deals faster," said Mark Elconin, CEO of Saratoga Systems. "We are thrilled to be working with Dejima, and are proud to offer our customers a product based on one of the most recognizable and easy-to-use mobile sales tools on the market today. Dejima's device-agnostic approach, coupled with the ability to offer our customers a wireless product that recognizes free-form queries, will allow Saratoga to easily extend the value of iAvenue."

"Saratoga Systems' has pushed the customization aspects of its solutions to the extreme. By further enabling individual users to remotely command and control iAvenue in their own words, Dejima Direct provides for the ultimate customization - user-level personalization," said Antoine Blondeau, CEO of Dejima. "At the end of the business day, it's about whether or not the traveling sales person has used the application. The growing popularity of Dejima Direct Enterprise products, now deployed in North America and Japan, underscores that our licensees share our views that simplicity sells, complexity does not."

iAvenue Wireless, powered by Dejima Direct, will be generally available in September 2003.
