Top Legal IT Group Chooses METAmessage to Give Mobile Attorneys Wireless Access to Interwoven Worksite via BlackBerry

Law Firm IT Department of the Year at Addleshaw Goddard Provides Quick, Easy Access to Interwoven's Document Management and Collaboration Solution using METAmessage Legal Software and BlackBerry Handhelds

London, England - Onset Technology, a leading developer of enterprise access software for wireless handheld devices, today announced that Addleshaw Goddard, one of the largest law firms in the UK and winner of the 2003 Law Firm IT Department of the Year award, has chosen METAmessage to provide mobile access to its Interwoven WorkSite™ matter-centric collaboration solution. Onset's METAmessage Legal software lets mobile attorneys using BlackBerry® handhelds from Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM; TSX:RIM) access important case matters, spell-check outgoing messages, and use time-and-billing and CRM applications practically anywhere, anytime.

Addleshaw Goddard delivers client services through five Divisions located in three strong offices in London, Leeds and Manchester, with a wide network of "Preferred Firms" around the world.

"We endeavor to consistently provide our attorneys with the most powerful tools available," said Dan Simms, Head of IT Operations at Addleshaw Goddard. "As a matter of course, we evaluated METAmessage as part of our BlackBerry deployment process. The software provides mobile access to our Interwoven system as well as other capabilities indispensable for the handheld. The decision to employ the METAmessage solution was quite easy."

"BlackBerry continues to be the wireless platform of choice in the legal industry because of its ability to increase productivity and provide a strong return on investment for both individual attorneys and the overall firm," said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Corporate Marketing at Research In Motion. "The deployment at Addleshaw Goddard is a great example of how firms can leverage BlackBerry and METAmessage to go beyond wireless email and phone applications to enable even greater workflow benefits."

Addleshaw-Goddard's investment in WorkSite and METAmessage is part of an overall strategy to improve operational efficiency. WorkSite's matter centric collaboration solution goes beyond traditional document management to provide an electronic equivalent to the physical matter file.

"The Addleshaw-Goddard IT team is very highly respected and awarded, and they partner with vendors who provide ongoing product innovation," said Steve Pattison, vice president of alliances and business development for Interwoven. "The firm is greatly benefiting with its use of WorkSite by enabling geographically dispersed teams access to the same matter file from any location - which now includes mobile access via METAmessage."

METAmessage, used by over 150 law firms (40+ in the US AmLaw 100) and over 1000 enterprises, is a complete, out-of-the-box solution for BlackBerry handheld access to the enterprise. Users can interact directly with a range of enterprise data systems including document management/time-and-billing programs, enterprise applications, and databases. The user simply opens a form on the handheld and either requests information from or adds information to the data source. Users can also print anywhere, including network printers; spell check outgoing messages; get network documents to send, read, or print; and, quickly get driving directions, flight information, Google searches, and more.

"METAmessage is a de facto standard with law firms deploying BlackBerry," said Richard Smith, managing director of Mobotel, the Onset distributor working with Addleshaw Goddard's IT department. "METAmessage takes BlackBerry beyond email and makes the handheld an even greater productivity tool for attorneys - there is much less of a need to carry a laptop when visiting clients or working out of the office."
