mBiztech's mDB Deployed To Broward County's Emergency Management Agency To Enable Wireless Access to Critical Information

Wireless Enterprise Symposium – Chicago, IL - mBiztech Corp., developer of innovative wireless business productivity solutions, announced today that mDB, its out-of-the-box solution that allows users to wirelessly access IBM Lotus® Notes and other leading database systems, is being deployed to Broward County's Emergency Management Agency (BEMA) members via BlackBerry® from Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM).

The BEMA team maintains a 24x7 monitoring status for incidents such as hurricane storms, hazardous material spills, or terrorist events. The team must be able to reach out and contact the necessary responders and resources to deal with each emergency. Much of the critical information necessary to deal with these types of events is housed on several IBM Lotus Domino™ servers at the emergency operations center. The ability to wirelessly access this information was made possible by the utilization of the BlackBerry wireless platform and mBiztech's mDB product. This solution also allows the on-site BEMA team to create and update incident reports and damage assessments directly from their BlackBerry handhelds.

"A key element to responding to emergency situations is having immediate access to time critical information. Previously staff would have to rely on notebook computers or emergency contact list manuals. The deployment of mBiztech's mDB solution and BlackBerry means BEMA members are able to access and update information from the field enabling them to be more efficient, make more informed decisions, and possibly saving lives," said Michael Verini, IT Director, Broward County Emergency Response Center.

mDB is an out-of-the-box turn-key solution that enables organizations to easily provide access to internal information in a secure, easy to use manner. BlackBerry users can now access information on their BlackBerry handhelds that previously required a laptop or desktop computer.

"The mDB deployment at Broward County is further validation of our approach to BlackBerry data access," said Cathal Copas, mBiztech's Chief Technology Officer and Founder. "Organizations are looking for easy to deploy solutions that provide a secure way to enable access to critical information for their mobile users."

BlackBerry is the industry-leading wireless platform that keeps mobile professionals connected to their important information and communications while on the go. It is an award-winning solution that can provide users with integrated wireless access to a range of business applications, including email, phone, corporate data, web, SMS and organizer applications. For individuals and smaller companies, BlackBerry Web Client™ allows users to access multiple corporate and/or personal email accounts from a single BlackBerry handheld. For larger enterprises with an IT department, BlackBerry Enterprise Server™ software tightly integrates with Microsoft® Exchange or IBM Lotus Domino and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based, wireless access to existing email and other corporate data.

"Broward County Emergency Response Center's deployment shows how BlackBerry together with mBiztech's mDB can enable always-on wireless access to important information and help team members carry out their assignments in the field in the most efficient manner," said Mark Guibert, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Research In Motion.

mBiztech will be demonstrating their mDB solution at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium conference in Chicago from May 18-19, 2004 in booth #116.
