Epicad Introduces Project Tracker For BlackBerry, a Project Management Tool For Construction in the Facility Management Industry
Ivanhoe Cambridge Validates the Effectiveness of Project Tracker in the Field
Wireless Enterprise Symposium – Chicago, IL - Epicad, a wireless application software developer and services provider, is pleased to introduce the availability of Project Tracker for the BlackBerry® wireless platform from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq:RIMM; TSX:RIM). Project Tracker allows for remote management of construction projects in the facility management industry. Ivanhoe Cambridge, a leader in the Canadian shopping center industry, has already validated the effectiveness of Project Tracker on construction sites. Project Tracker has a Mobile Checklist Manager allowing project managers to view hierarchical task lists on their BlackBerry Wireless Handheld™ for each project. During site visits, the user records progress for each task and a central database is immediately updated, generating web-based management reports.
Julian Tuck, President of Epicad states, "Developing Project Tracker with active input and participation by the Ivanhoe Cambridge team ensures that the product meets the diverse requirements of construction professionals working in the facility management industry."
The ability of the BlackBerry handheld to replace several mobile devices and the need to rapidly communicate business information between the site and head office is driving the demand for additional BlackBerry applications to increase efficiency on construction sites. Users of Project Tracker benefit from the ability to immediately manage progress information on all projects, allowing continuous monitoring against construction budgets and schedules. In addition, users have convenient reminders of important tasks, precise transcription and reporting at their fingertips, eliminating paperwork and multiple devices for communication.
Mark Guibert, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq:RIMM; TSX:RIM) confirms, "Epicad has created an application that will bring the unique benefits of BlackBerry to project managers in the facility management industry. The Project Tracker solution for BlackBerry allows Ivanhoe Cambridge project managers to easily perform all their on-site tasks with a single integrated wireless productivity tool."
Jean-Luc Dion, Ivanhoe Cambridge's Director of Construction adds, "We chose Epicad's Project Tracker software because it is optimized for use by the client in a construction project. It gives our construction project managers an efficient and accurate way to record and report project progress wirelessly. We expect to save time and money by more accurate project tracking and much faster reporting. We were pleased to work with Epicad on the development of Project Tracker."
Epicad demonstrated Project Tracker at RIM's Wireless Enterprise Symposium conference in Chicago from March 18-19, 2004.
