“BlackBerry® from Cingular provides several benefits to the Los Angeles community,” said Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton. “Now our SLOs will have easy, wireless access to e-mail from members of the community, allowing them to find solutions and respond more quickly and efficiently.”
The donation announcement will take place at a press conference this morning at the Ahmanson Recruit Training Center in West Los Angeles. Attendees of this conference will include Police Chief Bratton and several SLOs as well as representatives from Cingular, RIM and the Los Angeles Police Foundation.
“Cingular is proud to be able to provide Blackberry voice and data services to this organization – services that ultimately will result in a safer and a higher-quality of living for the members of the Los Angeles community,” said Chris Percy, Vice President of Business Sales, Cingular Wireless. “We’re ecstatic to be involved in such a beneficial partnership.”
“With BlackBerry from Cingular, members of the community can enjoy faster response times and solutions to their e-mails and Senior Lead Officers can spend more time out of the office and with the community,” said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Corporate Marketing at Research In Motion. ”We are pleased to provide BlackBerry to the Los Angeles Police Foundation to help build a safer City,”
Senior Lead Officers work closely with the community. These officers often work directly with both LAPD and members of the community to ensure a safe area for all those involved.
In recent weeks, some of the Senior Lead Officers have had the opportunity to try out the BlackBerry handhelds. As liaisons to the communities, they have found that mobile e-mail access and phone services have truly been beneficial to their daily jobs by increasing productivity and responsiveness to the community. It has been made known that the SLOs expect nothing but good things to come out of this relationship.
