MCS Health Inc. Announces Its Physician Drug Solution Now Available On Blackberry Wireless Handhelds™
The Physician Drug Solution Provides BlackBerry® Users Wireless Access to First DataBank’s integrated knowledge base
Montreal, QC - MCS Health Inc. announced today its Physician Drug Solution is now available on all BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM). The Solution provides BlackBerry users mobile access to First DataBank’s National Drug Data File (NDDF®) Plus - one of the most comprehensive databases of all prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs in North America.
The Physician Drug Solution is supported by a suite of drug related functions including drug interactions, side effects, indications, contraindications, and dosing. The Solution offers physicians a tool that will provide safer, up-to-date doctor-patient environments at point of care and reduce costly errors and adverse drug events.
“With an ever increasing number of prescription and OTC medications on the market daily, it’s just not possible to recall or be aware of every drug interaction, “says Dr. Joseph Yermus, MCS Health CEO. “Doctors using the Physician Drug Solution with BlackBerry will be better equipped to avoid any potential patient Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR’s) and have instant access to a reliable resource.”
Dr. Marc Odrich, a New York physician, states, “This application is a medical must-have. I use it every day for my own patients and patients in my clinical trials. The ability to have this information at my fingertips in an easily searchable format is invaluable.”
Unlike other competitive products on the market, the MCS Physician Drug Solution provides users with up-to-date real-time access to medical information with no synching or cradling required. The database is updated regularly and urgent messages will be sent to subscribers about important news such as a drug being withdrawn from the market.
Dr. Yermus is pleased to be able to offer this service to BlackBerry users across North America. “Confidentiality and safety are of the utmost importance for doctors. The secure reputation of BlackBerry’s technology coupled with the credibility of First DataBank’s knowledge base made them the ideal choice for our Physician Drug Solution.”
The Physician Drug Solution is available only on the BlackBerry wireless platform through most major carriers including Nextel, Cingular, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint as well as all Canadian carriers.
The official launch of the MCS Physician Drug Solution will occur at this year’s Annual HiMSS Conference and Exhibition going on this week in Dallas, Texas.
