Epoch Integration Releases NeedTEXT Monitor version 2.1 for BlackBerry Enterprise Server

New features allow help desk staff and other key personnel within customer organizations to gain insight into BlackBerry service health

Toronto, Ontario - Epoch Integration Inc., a leading provider of software solutions that enhance the capabilities of organizations responsible for the support of the BlackBerry® wireless platform, developed by Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM), today announced the release of version 2.1 of its NeedTEXT Monitor for BlackBerry Enterprise Server™.

NeedTEXT Monitor is a network management solution specifically designed to monitor BlackBerry Enterprise Server v2.2 and higher and BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds™ within enterprise organizations.   The product has been adopted by many companies, such as BASF, Albertsons and Hyatt Hotels, looking to maximize the availability of their BlackBerry service to handheld users.   By providing automated, 24/7 monitoring, NeedTEXT Monitor proactively identifies system issues or events that could cause an interruption in BlackBerry service and sends detailed alerts to system administration staff.  The software also gathers key performance metrics for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry users, enabling reports and charts for use in everyday management of the BlackBerry deployment within the organization.  For example, administrators can report on message activity across all of their BlackBerry Enterprise Servers simultaneously and use the resulting data for load balancing and capacity planning initiatives.

As an organization’s BlackBerry implementation matures from a pilot project to a fully supported mission critical service, additional personnel within the enterprise benefit by gaining insight into the performance of the BlackBerry infrastructure systems within their corporate network.   As such, version 2.1 of NeedTEXT Monitor provides the ability to create user accounts and support for multiple, simultaneous logins to the monitoring console.   Now customers can:

  • Create View Only accounts for help desk and desk-side support personnel that need a view into BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry handheld user status
  • Create View Only accounts for help desk and desk-side support personnel that need to perform user searches to determine on which BlackBerry Enterprise Server a handheld user is registered
  • Create Reports Only accounts for key stakeholders within the customer organization (i.e. line of business managers, finance department, etc.) that need to generate reports on BlackBerry handheld usage
  • Allow multiple IT users to log into the monitoring console at the same time from separate web browser locations

Version 2.1 of NeedTEXT Monitor for BlackBerry Enterprise Server is available immediately.   Customers should contact Epoch Integration Sales for more information or to obtain a free evaluation.   Visit http://www.needtext.net/besmon.
