Research In Motion Signs Agreement With OCI Communications To Supply BlackBerry Wireless Email Solution
OCI To Distribute BlackBerry Internet Edition
Waterloo, ON - Research In Motion Limited (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSE: RIM) today announced it signed an agreement with OCI Communications Inc. (TSE: OCC.B) whereby Optel Communications (a wholly-owned subsidiary of OCI Communications) will distribute BlackBerry™ Internet Edition in Canada. As part of the agreement, OCI placed an initial order for one thousand BlackBerry Handhelds with short-term delivery. The two companies expect to finalize a long-term shipment schedule within the next sixty days.
Optel will focus on the small and medium size business market and offer customers a singlemailbox, mobile solution with both wireless and PC-based access to email. Optel will supply customers with a single email address and single mailbox that can be accessed through their BlackBerry Wireless Handheld and through a PC. This dual approach provides customers with the flexibility to manage their email when and where it's convenient.
