Nortel Networks, RIM Team Up to Provide 'Always On, Always Connected' Internet

Alliance Targets Delivery of Next Generation Wireless Internet Solutions for Mobile Professionals

Dallas, Texas - Establishing first-mover advantage in next generation Wireless Internet solutions, Nortel Networks* [NYSE/TSE: NT] and Research In Motion* [NASDAQ: RIMM; TSE: RIM] have entered into a strategic marketing and technology alliance intended to accelerate realization of an 'Always On, Always Connected*' environment for wireless delivery of interactive, digital information and services to mobile professionals.

The companies will work together to provide a new class of Wireless Internet services and connected computing appliances, bundled as differentiated solutions for stimulating data traffic and promoting subscriber loyalty.

Expanding on the capabilities of today's mobile computing and communications devices, these solutions will offer true 'wireless portals' for pervasive interaction between consumers, businesses and the Internet.
