Research In Motion Signs Supply Agreement With BellSouth Wireless Data
BellSouth Wireless Data offers RIM 950 and RIM 957 Wireless Handhelds With Range Of Applications and Services Under BellSouth® MyBizSM Interactive Including Interactive Messaging PLUS and the BlackBerry Wireless Email Solution
Waterloo, Ontario - Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSE: RIM), a world leader in the mobile communications market, today announced a new agreement with BellSouth Wireless Data to supply a total of 150,000 RIM Wireless Handhelds™. Under the terms of the agreement, RIM will supply 75,000 RIM 950 Wireless Handhelds™ and 75,000 RIM 957 Wireless Handhelds™. Shipments of the RIM 957™ are scheduled to be delivered over the next ten months and shipments of the RIM 950™ are scheduled for delivery within a twelve-month period commencing March, 2001.
BellSouth Wireless Data is a longstanding strategic partner with RIM and already offers RIM Wireless Handhelds together with an expanding suite of applications and services for both individuals and enterprises under BellSouth MyBiz Interactive. In addition to the supply agreement for RIM Wireless Handhelds announced today, RIM and BellSouth Wireless Data have also signed a distribution agreement to allow BellSouth to directly offer the BlackBerry™ wireless email solution to its corporate customers. This agreement significantly expands RIM's distribution for the BlackBerry solution and allows BellSouth Wireless Data to offer its customers another leading enterprise solution.
