Research In Motion and Brience To Deliver Enterprise Data to BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds

Industry Leaders Expand Applications For BlackBerry Customers

San Francisco, California - Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSE: RIM), a world leader in the mobile communications market, and Brience, Inc., a leading provider of next-generation wireless and broadband solutions, today announced that RIM and Brience will work together to offer corporations wireless access to a broad range of existing enterprise applications in addition to corporate email systems. Together, the companies will enable corporations to extend enterprise applications and information to BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds™, allowing mobile employees to manage eBusiness interactions on the go.

RIM's BlackBerry™, which is quickly becoming the corporate standard for wireless email, is a secure, end-to-end solution that includes advanced wireless handhelds, flat-rate airtime, desktop utilities and enterprise server software. Brience's software solution, Brience 2.0 Framework, will allow customers to easily extend additional corporate applications to BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds without changing their current systems architecture. The combination of these advanced technologies will allow mobile users to enhance communication and productivity by smoothly integrating with both the corporation's existing systems and the individual's workflow. For instance, mobile users could be allowed to read and respond to their email, schedule appointments, fill out forms relating to customer relationship management, monitor sales activity, access supply chain data and conduct other types of business - all from their BlackBerry Wireless Handheld.

"The Brience platform is an excellent complement to our BlackBerry wireless email solution," said David Werezak, vice president of marketing at Research In Motion. "BlackBerry already offers organizations a proven and secure method of integrating wireless handhelds with existing, mission-critical, corporate email systems. Brience enables customers to easily extend additional enterprise applications while maintaining the same philosophy of leveraging existing systems and application infrastructure."

The Brience 2.0 Framework allows companies to immediately and seamlessly deliver enterprise information and applications to the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld without the need for custom programming or additional infrastructure. The Brience platform includes the Experience Delivery Server, which recognizes specific devices and customizes the delivery of information to give users exactly the right form of data to optimize their Internet experience. It also includes an easy to use Development Environment for adding additional devices and the optional Wireless Edge Server for enhancing service quality for premium users.

"RIM's ability to address the needs of the mobile workforce is validated by the success of BlackBerry," said Keyur Patel, executive vice president of strategy for Brience. "Brience will continue to forge relationships with leading companies like RIM to give business users the best access to their business critical information when and where they need it."
