Research In Motion And BT Cellnet Sign Supply Agreement For The BlackBerry Wireless Email Solution
Waterloo, ON - Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSE: RIM), a world leader in the mobile communications market, today announced its first major European supply agreement for the BlackBerry™ wireless email solution with UK mobile telecommunications operator BT Cellnet. Under the terms of the agreement, Research In Motion UK Limited will supply BT Cellnet with BlackBerry Enterprise Edition™ for distribution in the UK. The supply agreement includes a commitment to order 175,000 BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds™ with associated software and service.
Operating over BT Cellnet’s GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) network, BlackBerry will provide users with a seamless and secure link to their corporate email. BlackBerry Enterprise Edition is an end-to-end wireless email solution that features the industry's most advanced wireless handheld with support for Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) and integrated email/organizer software, a PC docking cradle, PC synchronization software, enterprise server software, end-to-end encryption technology and airtime on BT Cellnet's nationwide GPRS network.
