Research In Motion And SAIC To Help Customers Extend Enterprise Applications Via The BlackBerry Wireless Platform
San Diego, CA and Waterloo, ON - Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and announced plans to help customers extend enterprise applications to mobile workforce environments using the BlackBerry™ wireless platform. The companies initially intend to focus efforts on deploying wireless applications that increase the productivity of mobile professionals in both public and private industries such as federal/state/local government agencies, utilities, healthcare and emergency response sectors.
"SAIC and RIM will work together to leverage the new connectivity features of BlackBerry Enterprise Server v3.5 and help customers build secure wireless applications that extend access to enterprise data beyond email," said Jim Balsillie, chairman and co-CEO at Research In Motion. "SAIC's expertise in systems integration and software support and installation in conjunction with RIM's solution could allow customers to confidently advance their wireless plans and further expand the ROI potential of the BlackBerry platform."
