Rogers AT&T Wireless and RIM to Offer New BlackBerry Wireless Handheld with Data and Voice Services
New Integrated BlackBerry Handheld to Operate on Rogers AT&T Wireless' Next-Generation GSM/GPRS Network
Toronto, ON and Waterloo, ON - Rogers AT&T Wireless [TSE: RCM.B; NYSE: RCN] and Research In Motion Limited (RIM) [Nasdaq: RIMM; TSE: RIM] today announced an agreement whereby they intend to add the new GSM/GPRS version of the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld™ with integrated data and voice capabilities to Rogers AT&T Wireless' existing BlackBerry product line-up. The new BlackBerry Handheld combines wireless phone capabilities with its existing wireless data services such as email and anytime, anywhere access to the Internet. This new model is also equipped with an earpiece and microphone for convenient, hands-free phone calls.

BlackBerry provides users with enhanced wireless email and access to the Internet, and a personal organizer that can synchronize with the users' desktop.
Rogers AT&T Wireless completed the installation of its GSM/GPRS wireless network across more than 85% of Canada's population, making the Rogers AT&T GSM/GPRS network the largest digital wireless network in Canada. By mid-2002, the Rogers AT&T GSM/GPRS network will match its extensive analog coverage of 93% of the Canadian population, providing Canadians with access to "always on" GPRS wireless packet data service, along with GSM digital voice service.
Details of the agreement for BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds with associated software and service were not disclosed. Further information regarding the availability and pricing of BlackBerry for Rogers AT&T Wireless' GSM/GPRS network will be announced at a later date.
