Airtel and Research In Motion Launch BlackBerry in India
New Delhi, India and Waterloo, ON - Airtel - India’s leading mobile service provider and a part of India’s largest telecom conglomerate Bharti Enterprises - and Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced the launch of the innovative BlackBerry® wireless solution in India. The initiative, a first in India, provides mobile professionals with a secure and integrated, wireless communications solution. Airtel customers can now join the more than 1.6 million active BlackBerry users worldwide.

- Push-based Email – BlackBerry gives Airtel customers the power to manage their email on the go. Users can read, compose, forward, reply, file or delete messages at their convenience. Blackberry Enterprise Server™ allows secure integration with Microsoft® Exchange or IBM Lotus® Domino™ (Novell GroupWise support is expected later this year) and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based, wireless access to email and other corporate data.
- Phone & Text Messaging – BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds™ also feature integrated phone capabilities that enable Airtel customers to easily place and receive both phone calls and text messages.
