Telecom New Zealand And RIM Launch The BlackBerry Solution With The BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Smartphone In New Zealand

Auckland, New Zealand and Waterloo, ON, Canada - Telecom New Zealand (NZX:TEL, ASX:TEL, NYSE:NZT) and Research In Motion (RIM)  (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced plans to launch the BlackBerry® wireless solution n New Zealand. Telecom NZ will offer BlackBerry® Enterprise Server and BlackBerry® Internet Service, as well as the BlackBerry® 8830 World Edition smartphone, to its customers.

The industry-leading BlackBerry solution provides customers with a wide range of easy-to-use mobile applications, including phone, email, messaging, organizer, web browser, multimedia and more.

Featuring a sleek and stylish design with a full QWERTY keyboard, intuitive trackball navigation system and large bright display, the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition smartphone is the first CDMA-enabled BlackBerry smartphone capable of roaming on GSM/GPRS networks around the world* to meet the growing demand from Telecom customers who travel internationally.

Telecom General Manager of Business Products Martin Butler said the launch of the BlackBerry solution with the BlackBerry 8830 is an exciting offering for Telecom's business customers in New Zealand. “We’re delighted to be launching the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition smartphone to New Zealanders. For individuals and smaller businesses, BlackBerry Internet Service allows users to access up to ten supported corporate and personal email accounts, including most popular ISP email accounts, from a single device.
