Iusacell and RIM Introduce the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 in Mexico
The First BlackBerry Smartphone Offered with IusaTv, Copilot Ubicacel (GPS) and Iusacells BAM Broadband Modem Capabilities
Mexico and Waterloo, ON - Iusacell Group and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today introduced the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8130 smartphone to Iusacell customers in Mexico. The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 features powerful communications and multimedia capabilities and operates on Iusacell’s high-speed EV-DO network.
The sleek BlackBerry Pearl 8130 is one of the smallest and lightest smartphones on the market and comes with built-in GPS, making it ideal for customers on the move. This smartphone is a great choice for businesses and individuals, enabling them to manage calls, send email, surf the net, take and send photographs, listen to music, watch videos, record* videos, and access their organizer as well as a wide range of business and lifestyle applications.
Iusacell is also offering BAM (Banda Ancha Móvil), its mobile broadband connection that allows customers to use the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 as a tethered modem with a computer or laptop and enjoy the benefits of a high-speed connection.
Lusacell offers the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 smartphone with the following features:
• SureType® keyboard system, which now features word completion and spell checker
• Built-in GPS and the Copilot Ubicacel navigation application, making it easy for users to find their way with turn-by-turn navigation
• Access to ring tones and other downloadable content offered by Iusacell
• 2 megapixel camera with flash, zoom and video capture
• Advanced media player, perfect for listening to music and watching videos
• Convenient, externally accessible microSD/SDHC memory card slot for additional storage of music, videos and pictures
• Bluetooth® stereo audio support and 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, compatible with standard MP3 player head phones
• BlackBerry Desktop Manager software, which features a media manager that makes it easy to manage music, video and pictures between a PC and the BlackBerry Pearl, as well as to edit pictures and create photo albums
• Ultra-thin, high-capacity, removable battery
Exclusive features offered by Iusacell:
• Copiloto Ubicacel (GPS), which shows maps and street names in the simplest way possible. Ubicacel allows the customer to share their geographic location with others that also use this service
• Iusatv television with access to 17 channels, as well as video on demand
Iusacell is offering BlackBerry service with both BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Internet Service. BlackBerry Enterprise Server tightly integrates with Microsoft® Exchange, IBM Lotus® Domino® and Novell® GroupWise® and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based, wireless access to email and other corporate data. BlackBerry Internet Service allows users to access up to ten supported corporate and personal email accounts (including most popular ISP email accounts) from a single device.
Pricing and Availability
The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 smartphone from Iusacell is available for as little as 140Pesos with a data plan and customers are able to take advantage of a special offer from lusacell for two months free service.
