Tips & Tricks:
How to take better videos using your BlackBerry smartphone.
Moments worth recording usually come without warning. Thankfully, your BlackBerry® smartphone is in your pocket and ready to record.
We want to help you get the most out of capturing moments on video that mean so much. Here are a few, new tips and tricks that will help you take your videos to a new level.
Try not to shoot directly into the sun when you want to record detail in front of it. For example, if you're recording your family with a sunset behind them, they may appear too dark. Keep the light behind you whenever possible, so that it illuminates the subjects in front of you.
The best time to shoot is around half an hour before sunset as the natural light has a lovely, warm tone to it. Overcast days provide even lighting that's perfect for anything you want to shoot outdoors as there are no strong shadows created by the sun.
When shooting video indoors or at night, try to light the subject matter as much as possible. It may seem too bright to the eye at the time, but when you review the video the lighting will appear more balanced than you'd expect.
TIP: In dark conditions, or when your subject appears too dark, your BlackBerry smartphone camera flash works as a light for taking video.
Keep your hand still as much as possible, and if you have to move, do so in a very smooth motion. Moving too quickly will be difficult to watch when playing back the video.
TIP: Your BlackBerry smartphone is equipped with built-in image stabilization to help eliminate motion blur. The feature is automatic in most BlackBerry smartphone models.
Sometimes it's better to film ‘too much’ – you can then cut down your footage with video editing software to ensure your final film has all the interesting bits and none of the boring bits. Most good home videos are less than 30 minutes in length. Consider your audience before you shoot – and definitely before you edit. What would they like to see?
We hope this information helps you become a better BlackBerry smartphone shooter, and we also hope that your audience appreciates your videos too. These videos should help you capture moments that your family and friends will treasure for years to come. Keep recording!
