BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software versions 3.5 through 4.1 for Microsoft® Exchange

This procedure describes how to move the administration mailbox that the BlackBerry Enterprise Server uses between mailbox stores or from one Microsoft Exchange Server to another. This article does not apply to moving individual BlackBerry smartphone users.

In versions prior to BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0, the administration mailbox is essential to the operation of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server because it holds critical information such as the Server Routing Protocol (SRP) connectivity information, instance names, and associated BlackBerry smartphone user lists.

How to move the BlackBerry Configuration Database to a new Microsoft SQL Server or instance

To move the BlackBerry Configuration Database to a new Microsoft SQL Server or instance, you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Back up the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
  2. Prepare the new Microsoft SQL Server.
  3. Restore the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
  4. Configure the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Enabling wireless data synchronization support for local IBM Lotus Domino Web Access accounts

BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software versions 4.0 and 4.1 for IBM® Lotus® Domino®

With BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0 Service Pack 2 (4.0.2) and later, you can enable wireless data synchronization support for local IBM Lotus Domino Web Access (formerly iNotes™) accounts that have not synchronized with the IBM Lotus Domino messaging server by adding or editing the following registry key:

Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Windows® operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.

Registry Key: AllowUnsyncedINotes

Type: DWORD

Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents

If set to 1, the BlackBerry Synchronization Service can access the BlackBerry smartphone user's address book.

If set to 0, or does not exist, the BlackBerry Synchronization Service cannot access the BlackBerry smartphone user’s address book.
