Tips & Tricks: Ring Tones
Ring tones are the perfect way to make a personal statement. Just as important, you can use them to quickly tell you who is calling – including clients, co-workers and members of your family - without having to look at your display. Your BlackBerry smartphone comes with all the functionality you need to make ring tones work for you. And you can even change your ring tone as your music mood changes.
Here are instructions on how to download a ring tone, assign it to a contact and more.
Download a ring tone
Depending on your wireless service provider, this feature might not be supported.
- In the media application, click Ring Tones.
- Click all ring tones.
- Press the Menu key.
- Click Download Tones.
You can also find ringtones from your BlackBerry smartphone under the Help icon.
Assign a ring tone to a contact
In the Address Book, select a contact. - Press the Menu key and select Edit.
- Press the trackball/trackwheel and select Add Custom Ring Tone.
- Press the Menu key and select Change Option.
- Select the desired ring tone.
- Press the trackball/trackwheel.
- Press the Menu key and select Save.
Change your ring tone
In the notification profile list, click Advanced. - Highlight a notification profile.
- Press the Menu key.
- Click Show Ring Tones.
- Click a media folder that contains
songs, ring tones, or voice notes. - Highlight a song, ring tone, or voice note.
- Press the Menu key.
- Click Set As Ring Tone.
Move a ring tone
You can only move ring tones that you added.
In the media application, click Ring Tones. - Navigate to a folder that contains
ring tones. - Highlight a ring tone.
- Click the trackball/trackwheel.
- Click Move.
- Navigate to the new location.
- Click a folder.
- Click Open.
- Click the trackball/trackwheel.
- Click Move Into.
Delete a ring tone
You can only delete ring tones that you added.
- In the media application, click a media type.
- If necessary, click a category.
- Highlight a ring tone.
- Click the trackball/trackwheel.
- Click Delete.
Note: If you delete a ring tone that you use in a notification profile, the notification profile uses the default ring tone.
