What’s new with BlackBerry Internet Service?
Advanced mailbox management, enhanced attachment services and much more.
Did you know that quite a few BlackBerry® Internet Service subscribers have set up the ability to push email from third party email accounts
like Yahoo!® Mail or Gmail™ to their BlackBerry® smartphone, on top of receiving email from their smartphone-based BlackBerry email account
All this, is what inspired Research In Motion to make advanced mailbox management one of the many technology and functional improvements they
made to the latest version of BlackBerry Internet Service.
BlackBerry Internet Service now offers added support for Yahoo! Mail and Gmail, as well as a host of other timesaving message management
features BlackBerry Internet Service subscribers have been waiting for.
Advanced Message Management
The latest version of BlackBerry Internet Service takes message management to a whole new level with 2-way synchronization of email messages
for Yahoo! Mail accounts. Now, when you delete a message from your Yahoo! Mail account, the message is automatically deleted on your
BlackBerry smartphone, and vice-versa. Similarly, when you read a Yahoo! Mail message on your BlackBerry smartphone the message is immediately
marked "read" in your Yahoo! Mail account.
It is also easy to integrate a Gmail account with your BlackBerry service -- and similar to the experience with a Yahoo! Mail account you
can now experience virtual real-time delivery of your Gmail messages.
In setting up the new auto-forwarding feature, you can also have a copy of all messages sent to your smartphone-based BlackBerry email
address forwarded to another third-party webmail account so you can read messages sent to this BlackBerry email address not only while you
are mobile, but also when you are reading your email from a desktop computer.
By turning on the new read and delivery receipt feature, you'll know when an email message has been successfully delivered to another
user's BlackBerry smartphone. You can even find out when this message has been read.
But BlackBerry Internet Service v2.3 offers improvements that go beyond advanced mailbox management.
Enhanced Attachment Services
BlackBerry Internet Service v2.3 comes with enhanced attachment services that include the ability to view popular attachment formats like
JPEGs and PDFs in a new easy-to-read slideshow format when you are on the go. You can even upload attachments stored on your BlackBerry
(i.e. pictures saved to smartphone memory or documents saved to the expandable memory card) and send them via email or MMS to friends,
family and colleagues while on the go1.
BlackBerry Internet Service v2.3 features expanded language support that allows you to use your BlackBerry smartphone in the language
you are most comfortable with. All you have to do is select your language right from the log-in screen.
Last, but not least, you will enjoy additional organizer functionality. You can request and accept wireless meeting requests2,
open electronic contact attachments and add these contact details directly to your BlackBerry smartphone.
You should have already and automatically been moved to the latest version of BlackBerry Internet Service. If you are not able to
experience some of the above features, you may still be on a much older version of BlackBerry Internet Service and will need to login to the
BlackBerry Internet Service site of your wireless service provider and when prompted, upgrade to the latest version.
