Activating a BlackBerry smartphone

Activating a BlackBerry® smartphone using BlackBerry® Unite!™ software is designed to allow email messaging, shared calendar, shared contacts, and file transfer on your BlackBerry smartphone.

Although BlackBerry Unite! software activates a BlackBerry smartphone when you add a user, this functionality is designed to allow you to change to a new BlackBerry smartphone or reactivate a BlackBerry smartphone.

This functionality applies to the user logged in to BlackBerry Unite! software; make sure that you are logged in as the correct user. See Switching users for more information.

To activate a BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:

1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer using a USB cable.

2. Enable mass storage mode on the BlackBerry smartphone.

3. Click the Device Management button.

4. Click the Mobile First Aid tab.

5. Click the Activate button.

6. When the activation process is complete, disconnect the BlackBerry smartphone from the computer.
