BlackBerry Device Software Version 4.2.1 or later

This new version of BlackBerry Device Software, when released, will contain the new Daylight Saving Time (DST) table to support the new transition times so no action is required.

NOTE: For testing purposes only to simulate how the DST adjustment will occur since these versions have the new DST table, BlackBerry devices can have both the date and time manually (in Options-Date/Time) adjusted to either of the upcoming transition days. However, if the time is manually set to be after 1:00am, the BlackBerry device code will assume that the DST time adjustment has already occurred so be sure to set prior to 1:00am to simulate the real experience.

BlackBerry Device Software v4.2.0 (for example, BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8100 device)

Option 1 – In conjunction with BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0.6 or v4.1.3 (or later)

This version of software supports sending new DST values wirelessly from the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server v4.1.3 or BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0.6. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server uses an SQL script to add updated time zone entries to the SyncDeviceConfig table. The BlackBerry Synchronization Service reads this data and synchronizes time zone information accordingly on BlackBerry® devices.

To run the script, download this ZIP file, extract the contents, and follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the file LoadSyncDeviceConfig.sql in a text editor
  2. At line 16, replace "_DATABASENAME_" with the actual name of your BlackBerry Configuration database name (remove quotes and underscores)
  3. Open a command prompt window and switch to the folder in which you saved the script
  4. Type osql -E -d databasename -i LoadSyncDeviceConfig.sql

Option 2 – In conjunction with all other versions of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server

Administrators must apply a patch to all BlackBerry Device Software v4.2.0.x instances that will apply the new DST rules. The size of the patch is approximately 20-30 KB.

After the patch has been deployed, users can confirm that it installed successfully. In the device options, click 2007 DST Patch.
