Research in Motion was founded in 1984 by Mike Lazaridis and Douglas Fregin. On January 30, 2013 Research in Motion was rebranded as BlackBerry.

BlackBerry’s common share are listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:BB) and the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX:BB).

Research in Motion’s IPO on the Toronto Stock Exchange was October 28, 1997, closing price $8.25. Research in Motion began trading on the NASDAQ on February 4, 1999, closing price $1.92. BlackBerry started trading on the NYSE on October 16, 2017, closing price $11.39.

We have not yet announced the date of the 2021 annual shareholders' meeting. We will publish a formal notification of the meeting date in the Spring of 2021.

The 2020 Annual Shareholder Meeting was held virtually on June 23, 2020.

Dividends for Shareholders

BlackBerry currently does not participate in a Dividend Reinvestment Program.

BlackBerry has never paid a quarterly dividend.

 

BlackBerry has split its stock twice. The first split was a 2-for-1 stock split that occurred on June 4, 2004.  The second split was a 3-for-1 split that occurred on August 20, 2007.

BlackBerry files documents electronically with the Canadian Securities Administrators SEDAR database and with the SEC on EDGAR. To access BlackBerry’s public securities filings, either visit the SEDAR website and do a public database search under BlackBerry Limited or go to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission website to view BlackBerry’s EDGAR filings.

The date for BlackBerry’s earnings release for its current fiscal quarter will be released approximately two weeks before the event.  A webcast of the conference call will be available from the BlackBerry Investor Information page at blackberry.com.

BlackBerry’s fiscal year-end is February 28.
