On May 12 of this year, President Biden signed Executive Order (EO) 14028, “Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity” pushing agencies to adopt zero trust cybersecurity principles and adjust their network architectures accordingly.
In a year of unprecedented malicious hacks targeting public and private networks, cybersecurity catapulted to the top of public policy agendas not just in Washington, but around the world. We are seeing similar legislative strategies being discussed by the European Union.
“Cybercrime doubled in 2019, ransomware tripled in 2020 and yet our companies and institutions are spending 41 percent less on cyber security than in the US. We must strengthen the EU’s cybersecurity and create the tools to handle cyber incidents together when they occur.” – lead MEP, Bart Groothuis.
